Pastor’s Note:

I wanted to bring everyone up to date on my Doctor in Ministry program.  I have completed three of the foundational courses.  In October my class was on famous preachers, in January I studied Christian spirituality and in March I took a course on forming liturgy and worship.  This summer I will complete three additional courses.  Two of the course will be taught at Drew University.  One on Native American spirituality taught by an Episcopal Bishop who is also Cherokee and one on the methods of writing and research for a dissertation.  My third class will be taught in Wales.  Mike and I will be traveling to England the week before my class begins and stay near St. Deiniol’s Residential Library where my class will be held.  For each class I will have a 15 - 20 page paper due by the end of August.  So, you can see I will be a busy woman this summer.

The past year has been an exciting and exhausting one for me.  I have learned a great deal through the books and lectures of each of my classes.  I am also enriched by the experiences of the seven other students in my program.  Included among them are men from Korea and Liberia as well as a Lutheran and Episcopal women and an African Methodist Episcopal, a Baptist, and a United Methodist man.

During this summer I will be forming my doctoral project.  I will be implementing and carrying out the research for that project in our church community.

As always, please pray for me and my family. Thank you for your care and support.

Mary
