Our Confirmation Class, for youth 7th Grade or Older, meets weekly in the Belfry (2nd floor of our Education wing). An excellent team of adults leads the class through topics such as Baptism, Called Into Mission, The United Methodist Church - Where Do We Come From?, Social Principles, The Appointment Game, and many more.
The class gains hands-on experience as they lead a worship service, work on a small group mission project, learn about stewardship with The Parable of the Talents Project, interview their parents about baptism, and receive communion together. An overnight retreat is held at the church early each October.
One of the greatest features of the Confirmation Class is our mentor program. Adult mentors, members of our church outside the students' families, meet with their Confirmand ten times beyond class time. They work together to answer questions and discuss Talk Points, while learning about each others' beliefs and faith. This program has been a huge success for many years as the class members form lasting relationships with their adult mentors.
Our year ends with a special luncheon to celebrate our year together, and the Confirmation service on Pentecost Sunday.
